Every school headteacher in Southwark is a member of the Headteachers’ Council. The Headteachers Council is therefore an inclusive and collegiate body that represents the interests of every school in the borough.

To oversee and inform the work of the Headteacher’s Council an Executive is elected annually at the AGM, which is usually held to coincide with the Annual Conference. The Executive comprises a Chair, a Treasurer and further officers who generally represent phase groups and CLANs (Community Learning and Achievement Networks), usually totalling, but not arbitrarily, up to 15 members.

An annual subscription is collected and these funds are used to provide support for schools. Subscription is regarded as a means of committing to the wider aim of supporting all schools achieve their best for Southwark children.
